Soprano Cheryl Campbell recently sang the role of Konstanze (Constanza) in Mozart's Die Entführung aus dem Serail with Opera by Request. Other operatic performances include the roles of Armida (Handel's Rinaldo) with Summer Opera Lyric Theatre, Gilda (Rigoletto) and Olympia (Les contes d'Hoffmann) with Tryptych Productions, Lucy (The Telephone) and Nora (Riders to the Sea) with Opera Anonymous, as well as Despina (Cosi fan Tutte), Mabel (Pirates of Penzance), and others.
In December 2010, she performed with the Kindred Spirits Orchestra and the Village Voices choir, under the batons of Kristian Alexander and Joan Andrews respectively, as the soloist for Vivaldi's Gloria. She will appear again with the KSO in June 2011, singing Mozart's Coronation Mass at the Glenn Gould Studio in Toronto. In 2009, she appeared with the Kitchener Waterloo Chamber Orchestra as the soloist for their Haydn anniversary concert, singing a variety of arias from operas and other works. November 2009 saw the inaugural "A little OPERA for little BABIES" concert, with proceeds going to The Linden Fund and Neonatal Intensive Care. Cheryl was one of the organizers and performers for this event. There have since been 2 more A little OPERA for little BABIES concerts. She has sung recitals and concerts in Canada and the UK, most notably with pianist Nigel Foster at St. Mary le Bow church in central London, where they were featured in a lunchtime recital series.
In the UK, Cheryl participated in the London Masterclasses (a one week intensive program for 12 international singers with Nelly Miricioiu), as well as The Abingdon Summer School for Solo Singers. She holds an Honours BMus (Education) and an Artist Diploma from the University of Western Ontario. Teachers have included Theresa Goble (London), Gwenlynn Little (Toronto), Alvin Reimer (University of Western Ontario), and currently, Mary Lou Fallis.
